US entries more than triple for the 2018 Hankook 24H COTA USA
Last year, CREVENTIC welcomed five American-based teams for the first-ever Hankook 24H COTA USA. For 2018, at least 15 US-based cars look set to be on the grid as the entry numbers continues to increase.
With just under two months left before the season-closing Hankook 24H COTA USA, 60 cars have already been registered for the final round of the 2018 24H SERIES powered by Hankook, more than one-third up on last year’s entry list. As well as hosting new teams, series favorites and our Championship of the Continents contenders, CREVENTIC is similarly thrilled to welcome upwards of a dozen American-entered cars for its second annual event at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Last year, the 24H SERIES travelled to the home of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix for the very first time, capping off a frenetic season of endurance racing action with an equally entertaining race. Fittingly, at their home race, all four American entrants finished on their respective class podiums, Classic BMW even netting a CUP1 class win on its series debut.
American teams joining the 24H COTA
This year, interest in the American leg of the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook calendar is similarly impressive. American heavyweights Team Panoz Racing could yet bolster an already impressive line-up at COTA, as could BMW specialists Auto Technic Racing, Porsche aficionados BGB Motorsports, and Pirelli World Challenge regulars Flying Lizard Motorsports, Rooster Hall Racing, and RealTime Racing. IMSA program regulars TOPP Racing, Murillo Racing, Moorespeed, and LAP Motorsport are also in discussion, as are FCP Euro, JDX Racing, and Kelly Moss Racing to name but a few. Both Classic BMW and Freem USA return to action at the Hankook 24H COTA USA on 16-17-18 November, alongside some other familiar names on the American GT scene.
Hankook 24H COTA USA Returns in November
Later this year, the 5.5km Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, will host the second annual Hankook 24H COTA USA on 16-17-18 November for Touring and GT cars.
This is an international race, organized in cooperation with the SCCA PRO Racing, part of the 24H SERIES and sanctioned by FIA and ACCUS where we welcome gentlemen drivers, amateurs, semi-pros and pros.
And even though there are more than four months to go before the green flag drops, preliminary entry numbers are already surpass the 45+ teams that signed up for last year’s endurance event, a list that include American incumbents Freem USA, Classic BMW and THRW Honda Racing, AR Motorsports, De La Torre Racing, Rearden Racing, The Porsche Broker and Canadian team TWOth Autosport Inc.
Teams and drivers will be fighting tooth and nail for both overall and class wins and podium positions, as well as the coveted Championship of the Continents, which will be decided at the curtain closer in Austin. If wheel-to-wheel action at home isn’t enough of an incentive, competitors also get the chance to race around one of North America’s most exciting permanent racing facilities, and the home of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix.
Seriously, what better time is there for SCCA-affiliated teams to sign up for their home race?

What happens at the Hankook 24H COTA USA?
In-keeping with the series’ professional yet enjoyable atmosphere, the Hankook 24H COTA USA will once again be split into two separate ‘halves’, allowing teams and drivers time to fully recuperate during the night and repair their hard-pushed chargers as required.
Much like last year, ‘part one’ of the Hankook 24H COTA USA will run for 14 hours between 09.00 hrs (local time) to 23.00 hrs on Saturday 17th before the ‘restart’ and final 10 hours between 08.00 hrs and 18.00 hrs on Sunday 18th. Throw in Free Practice and Qualifying sessions on Friday 16th – plus two optional Private Test sessions the day before – and drivers will have plenty of opportunities to jump behind the wheel.
Class-structure and driver levels
‘Race what you bring’ is a mantra CREVENTIC prides itself on in an era of increasingly restrictive motor racing regulations: providing your racing machine meets our technical and performance regulations, we will find you a berth in all of our multi-class races. It’s a structure that allows the 24H SERIES to welcome fire-breathing GT3s, Porsche Cup cars, tin top touring cars and pretty much everything else in-between.
From Renault Clio, BMW M235, GT4, Porsche 991, upto GT3, like Mercedes AMG GT3, etc.
Drivers from all walks of life and experience meanwhile are also welcome, from full-on professionals to ‘gentlemen’ enthusiasts. All you’ll need is an international racing licence grade C or B, verified pre-event and your racing gear, and we’ll make sure we get you on-track.
Animated though the paddock might be, CREVENTIC takes the safety of each of its competitors incredibly seriously. Consequently, all on-track activity is monitored constantly by our experienced race director and his appointed team at race control during every 24H SERIES event. Up to 100 marshals will also be on duty throughout the weekend, ensuring incidents and on-track complications are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Now entering its 5 year in partnership with CREVENTIC, Hankook continues its tireless support of the 24H SERIES. Be it a GT, TCE or prototype entry, every team is guaranteed a full quota of rubber throughout the COTA weekend courtesy of Hankook’s transitory headquarters in the paddock and it’s diligent team of 50+ engineers working on-site.
Central Fuel Station
Teams are also under no obligation to provide their own fuel rigs, with series partner Panta Racing Fuels providing and managing a centralised fuel station in the pitlane. Commissioned to the highest possible safety standards and designed to keep racing fair across the board, the fuel station is a unique facet of the 24H SERIES we’re confident our American competitors will get a kick out of.
Plus, every single 24H SERIES event is transmitted live around the world via our official live streaming service and radiolemans.com, one of – if not THE – most respected endurance racing broadcasters in the world.
