Pilgrim, Cunningham Top Pirelli World Challenge Practice Two On Friday


Apr. 27, 2012 - TOOELE, Utah - Andy Pilgrim, of Boca Raton, Fla., topped the Pirelli World Challenge GT class afternoon practice on Friday at Miller Motorsports Park, while Peter Cunningham, of Milwaukee, Wis., topped the GTS field in the combined session. The two classes will qualify later Friday afternoon for Saturday’s Privacy Star Utah Grand Prix Presented by Bondurant.

Pilgrim turned a lap of 1:52.041 (97.935 mph) behind the wheel of the No. 8 Cadillac Racing Cadillac CTS-V to take the top time of the session in the 30-minute afternoon session on the 14-turn, 3.048-mile Outer Course.

Patrick Long turned a lap of 1:52.213 (97.785 mph) to run second in the session. His lap of 1:51.989 (97.981 mph) in the No. 1 Privacy Star/EnTrust/TruSpeed Porsche 911 GT3 was the quickest in the combined practice.

Johnny O’Connell, Pilgrim’s Cadillac Racing teammate, was third in the session with a time of 1:52.365 (97.653 mph) in the No. 8 Cadillac Racing Cadillac CTS-V. Home track driver Madison Snow, a 16-year-old from nearby Lehi, Utah, was fourth in the session with a 1:52.654 (97.402 mph) in the No. 47 TruSpeed Porsche 911 GT3.

James Sofronas’ No. 14 Global Motorsports Group Porsche 911 GT3 was fifth with a 1:52.669 (97.389 mph).

Cunningham led the GTS session in the No. 42 Acura/RealTime Racing/HPD Acura TSX after posting a time of 2:00.446 (91.101 mph). Cunningham’s time was good for second on the combined practice charts prior to qualifying.

Round Three winner Jack Baldwin was second in the afternoon practice with 2:00.854 (90.793 mph) in the No. 68 Hot Wheels/Invoice Prep Porsche Cayman. The third spot in the afternoon was occupied by Colin Braun with a 2:01.184 (90.546 mph). Braun’s morning time of 2:00.112 (91.354 mph) in the No. 38 Infinity Audio/Kia Motors America Kia Optima was quickest in class on the day.

Braun’s teammate Michael Galati was fourth in the No. 36 Infinity Audio/Kia Motors America Kia Optima with a time of 2:01.517 (90.298 mph), followed by Andy Lee’s No. 20 Best IT Chevrolet Camaro in 2:01.610 (90.229 mph).

The GT and GTS field return for qualifying for Saturday’s Round Four race at 3:50 p.m. MDT on Friday afternoon.
