Dakota Dickerson to Complete DC Autosport 2018 F4 U.S. Program

With the opening weekend of the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda just days away, DC Autosport with Cape Motorsports is excited to finalize its three-driver line-up with the addition of talented American competitor Dakota Dickerson. Team owner Don Conner will field an Ligier JS F4 for the 21-year-old from San Diego to join the previously announced Eduardo Barrichello and Steve Bamford. The team has a technical partnership with reigning F4 U.S. team champions Cape Motorsports and is focused on retaining the title in 2018.

“I’m excited to get the new F4 season underway and I couldn't be happier with the drivers who we’ve signed for this season,” said Conner. “We’re going to have a great mix of experience and talent under the team tent, and I know that our guys are going to work very well together.”

Dickerson is a highly-rated young American driver, having finished third last season in the Overall SCCA Pro Competitor Point Standings in the F4 US Championship despite missing the first two race weekends. Dakota graduated from a very successful karting career into the Skip Barber regional program in 2014, finishing second in the Skip Barber Karts to Cars Scholarship Shootout. In the process, Dickerson was awarded the inaugural Bryan Herta Career Enhancement Scholarship. The 2015 season saw a focused run at the Skip Barber Summer Series program and then an invitation to the Skip Barber USF2000 Scholarship Shootout. Ahead of that shootout, the Californian was selected to the prestigious Team USA Scholarship program and competed at the Formula Ford Festival and the Walter Hayes Trophy. He then won the USF2000 shootout, entering the program with Afterburner Autosport in 2016, ending the season with 10 top-10s and three top-five finishes, placing him second in the Rookie of the Year chase and ninth overall in the standings. The talented Californian began the 2017 in USF2000, but subsequently made the move to F4 U.S. mid-season.

“I am very excited to be racing for Don Conner and the DC Autosport with Cape Motorsports guys,” offered Dickerson. “The team is extremely professional and winning is part of their culture. I know we will be able to accomplish great things together and I hope to build off the massive success that they had last year.”

The team will hit the track at Virginia International Raceway on Thursday (April 26) for a promoter test day, and will begin official practice on Friday (April 27). The F4 series runs three races each weekend, beginning on Saturday morning at 11:45 am.
