Goughary Returns to F4 U.S. Lineup for Mid-Ohio

F4 U.S. Championship brings 32-car field to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Maintaining a strong 32-car field, Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda returns to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, June 29-July 1 for its mid-season event. Consecutive two-time SCCA National champion James (Jim) Goughary Jr. of Jupiter, Florida will also make his season debut at Mid-Ohio running the colors of his former squad Primus Racing Team. The F4 U.S veteran is one of the most decorated competitors in F4 U.S. history, scoring 12 top-10 finishes, six top-five finishes and three podiums which included a win during his F4 career. He also holds the record for the most consecutive top-10 finishes at 18.

“Mid-Ohio is always one of our favorite tracks, so much so we expanded our efforts to bring back Jim. Jim missed the podium last season at Mid-Ohio by such a narrow margin, he is highly motivated to get back in the seat and onto those staggered steps,” said Primus Racing Team Principal Derich Cutshaw.

Over the last two seasons, Primus Racing experienced some of its best results on the Honda road course, with six podium visits since the inaugural season, the most of any F4 U.S. team. With the addition of Goughary’s black No. 11 Primus Racing Parts F4 machine, the team will field two cars for Mid-Ohio.

“Jim’s experience and race knowledge will be beneficial to us and to his teammate Justin Gordon," Cutshaw continued. "We are confident that both Jim and Justin will be on the podium this weekend.”

Serving as the support series to Formula Race Promotions, F4 U.S. will participate in two practice sessions on Friday with qualifying and the Round 7 on Saturday. The drivers will wrap-up the mid-season event Sunday with the final two rounds of racing.
