Trans Am Announces New Start Date for Regular Season

Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational postponed for later date in 2020

Indianapolis, Ind. (9 May 2020)- Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli drivers will have to wait for their chance to kiss the bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this season.

Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) today announced that the popular Brickyard Invitational at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), originally scheduled for June 19-21, has been postponed. SVRA officials are working with IMS management to reschedule the event for later this season.

The decision was made in accordance with the Indiana state guidelines for phasing into a more open economy.

“We have to respect the caution taken by Indiana state government,” said Tony Parella. “When we finally do host an event, we will make going racing at one of our SpeedTour weekends safer than going to the grocery store.”

IMS quickly became a driver and fan favorite to the annual Trans Am schedule after the fire-spitting American Muscle visited the track for the first time in 2017.

The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli season will now resume June 26-28 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
