IndyCar Driver Conor Daly Enters Trans Am by Pirelli Esports Championship Round at Bridgehampton

Indianapolis, Ind. (13 June 2020)- NTT IndyCar Series Conor Daly will trade in his open cock pit for a fire-breathing sportscar, wheeling his first laps in a virtual Trans Am machine today at 3:00 p.m. Eastern on the renown Bridgehampton Race Circuit (Stream here).

Daly is the latest professional open-wheel driver to add his name to the growing all-star cast of guest drivers to join the Trans Am by Pirelli Esports Championship ranks.

Over the last seven rounds, drivers like Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan, 11-time IndyCar Series winner Adrian Fernandez and FIA Formula 2 driver Juan Manuel Correa have all logged in to compete against current, past and future Trans Am drivers. But even with decades of real-world racing experience between them, none of the guest drivers have pierced into podium contention- Correa being the closest with at fourth-place finish at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Daly, with 44 career IndyCar starts and hundreds of sim hours under his belt, looks to be the first invitational pilot to upset the championship standings.

“I am taking on a new challenge today, as this will be my first time competing at Bridgehampton,” Daly said. “I am excited to use my new AIS Simulator that I have now to attempt to get into some Trans Am racing. I am thankful for the chance to race in this event.”

Known for his unfiltered take on esports racing through his Twitch channel, Daly will stream his debutant Trans Am performance live, offering fans a first-person insiders look of the ‘World’s Fastest Gamer - SIM edition’ JV with Torque Esports and Assetto Corsa platform.

“As someone who has never raced on Assetto Corsa before, this should be a lot of fun,” said Daly. “I am looking forward to a new experience.”

Daly and the rest of the Trans Am by Pirelli Esports field will race identically prepared Corvette C7.r GTLM machines.

Round 7 of the Trans Am by Pirelli Esports Championship starts Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Eastern at Bridgehampton. The day will feature a swift qualifying followed by two 20-minute main events. For added excitement, the second round will be an inverted field.
