Hunter Yeany to Compete in FR Americas Program in 2021

Newly crowned champion set to level up as he prepares for a new season

November 24, 2020  After securing the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda title and the accompanying scholarship to advance to the FR Americas Championship in 2021, Hunter Yeany has confirmed his participation in the top North American FIA sanctioned program for next season. With the goal to climb to the upper echelon of motorsports, Yeany is the first confirmed VRD FR Americas driver for 2021 with another driver soon to be announced.

“Hunter learned a lot in 2020, and I feel that he is ready to make the next step and compete in the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda,” explained Velocity Racing Development’s Dan Mitchell. “While the step is the natural progression, we are also exploring other options courtesy of the scholarship that was obtained for the 2021 season. Whether those options come from the United States or Europe, we need to see what happens and be prepared. Hunter and our other soon to be announced FR driver will be two of the several pieces to the VRD puzzle in 2021.”

On the strength of eight race wins and thirteen podium results in 14 championship events, Yeany was the class of the field as he found the top step of the podium in four of five F4 U.S. event weekends in 2020. As one of the drivers to beat throughout the season, Yeany clinched the title with one event weekend remaining before competing, and turning heads, in the final round of the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda at the Circuit of the Americas.

“I owe a lot to my team and the people around me,” added Yeany, the multi-time race winner and track record holder in 2020. “I am ready for the next step of my career and ready for the challenge that is in front of me. My goal is to make a career in the world of motorsports and that starts with my dedication and commitment as well as my results. To compete in FR Americas on a full-time level in 2021 is a small part of the overall dream. A huge thank you to Velocity Racing Development, Honda Racing / HPD, Ligier Automotive and the SCCA.”
