West Coast News: Athreya Ramanan to Race in F4 Western Championship with Doran Motorsports Group

Ramanan looks to gain experience while fighting for the championship

With a host of announcements on the horizon, West Coast F4 team Doran Motorsports Group (DMG) is pleased to announce their first driver of the 2021 season. Graduating from the Allen Berg Racing School, Athreya Ramanan will compete in the Formula Pro USA F4 Western Championship in his quest for race wins, podium results and the overall series title with big plans for the future.

“We are pleased to welcome Athreya to Doran Motorsports Group and as we do with every driver, welcome him with open arms,” explained DMG’s Francois Doran. “We have the equipment to win as we have proven in the past and though Athreya is relatively new to open wheel racing, he has shown great promise in both dry and wet weather tests with our program. We are looking forward to the start of the season and the first green flag of 2021.”

Born in 2004 in Hyderabad, India and now living in Sammamish, Washington, Ramanan has his sights set high. Utilizing DMG and the F4 program as the first step in his multi-year plan, Ramanan’s goal is the upper echelons of motorsports, specifically the Formula One World Championship. Obtaining an SCCA Pro License, Athreya Romanan is a graduate of the Allen Berg Racing School and has gained laps of experience at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow Raceway under the watchful eye of Doran Motorsports Group and Indy Lights competitor Nikita Lastochkin.

“I only started karting in 2018 but I am determined, motivated and anxious to move up the motorsports ladder,” explained Ramanan. “I know being 16-years-old that I have no time to waste, but also a lot to learn. The F4 Western Championship is the perfect training ground for me as I can build on the skills gained through the Allen Berg Racing program and expand on them with DMG. The first green flag is just around the corner and we are ready to go.”

With the first green flag of the Formula Pro USA F4 Regular Season at Thunderhill Raceway over the March 19-21 weekend, the twelve race, six weekend series will run at the most prominent locations on the West Coast before naming a champion at the final event weekend in November.

Ramanan continued, “This is a dream come true for me, and I will put forth my best effort to not let my team, family and partners down.”
