NEWMAN WACHS RACING HEADS TO ROAD ATLANTA FOR FR AMERICAS SEASON OPENER

Chicago-based squad looks to get the season started with strong results

MUNDELEIN, IL (March 24, 2021) – After five months off for the winter break, Newman Wachs Racing will re-fire their competition program as they head to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the 2021 Formula Regional Americas Powered by Honda season opener on March 26-28. The team enjoyed considerable success in its first year as an FRA team and Team Principal Brian Halahan hope to continue with this momentum on the purpose-built 12-turn, 2.54-mile road course in Braselton, Georgia this coming weekend. Guatemalan driver Ian Rodriguez has joined the team and arrives with an ample amount of success in his open-wheel career and he hopes to add to his resume with NWR. American Jordan Missig rejoins the team after his rookie year, having gained crucial experience to pair with his unwavering determination. The team heads into their second year of FRA armed with more knowledge and the same level of professionalism and dedication.

“This first race of the 2021 season couldn’t come soon enough,” Halahan commented. “The team is coming off a very successful test and I’m confident that both Ian and Jordan will be at the front of the pack once we unload off the hauler at Road Atlanta.

The drivers will participate in an unofficial test day on the Thursday (March 25) leading up to the event. Friday (March 26) will provide one practice session, followed up with qualifying. The first race of the tripleheader event will be run on Saturday morning (8:50 am) with Race 2 set for later in the afternoon (1:40 pm). Race 3 will cap off the event on Sunday afternoon (3:10 pm). Live timing and scoring will be available on the series website (www.framericas.com) and both live video coverage and live timing of the races can be enjoyed on www.fanracing.live.

About Newman Wachs Racing:

Newman Wachs Racing was formed in 2005 by late actor and IndyCar team owner Paul Newman and long-time racing friend Eddie Wachs to aid the development of young drivers in Champ Car’s Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda. Drivers who have been part of the NWR program included John Edwards, Simona de Silvestro, and Victor Franzoni. After a seven-year hiatus, Newman Wachs Racing has returned to racing, competing in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship on the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires. The team added the Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda to their resume in 2020.
