Rodrigo Gutierrez Joins Velocity Racing Development FR Program

January 24, 2022 – A veteran of the F4 program in the United States, Rodrigo Gutierrez has confirmed his plans for 2022. Joining the Velocity Racing Development program next season, Gutierrez will be part of a two car FR Americas Powered by Honda effort with his sights firmly set on race results and chasing the overall series title.

“I think Rodrigo will excel in our program and he will complement our soon to be announced second driver,” expressed VRD’s Dan Mitchell. “Rodrigo is a talent behind the wheel, and I think his results in 2021 were hindered by a lack of a teammate. In our program, he will receive the coaching and support he needs to be successful, and I am confident we will see an upward trend in his progress and results as we roll through the new season.”

Scoring a pair of podium results in 2021 including a pole position and a fastest race lap, Gutierrez earned a top-ten result in the overall series championship despite only competing in fourteen of the seventeen events.

“Racing in F4 and watching the success of VRD, I knew that they were a team that I wanted to partner with in the future,” added Gutierrez. “Their results in both F4 and FR are better than average, and I hope that I can only add to those podium finishes and race wins in 2022.”

Mitchell added, “Rodrigo will be strong. We have partnered him with a solid crew and a great coach as well as engineer, so I am expecting big things for him.”

The 2022 FR Americas championship Powered by Honda gets underway April 8-10 at NOLA Motorsports Park. With the first green flags of the 2022 just around the corner and VRD continuing to expand their series of competition and overall footprint, the Atlanta Motorsports Park based program is set for growth this season as they push to add to their results resume.
