Velocity Racing Development Adds Nico Christodoulou to FR Americas Driver Lineup

January 27, 2022 – After a successful 2021 F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda campaign, Nico Christodoulou is leveling up with Velocity Racing Development (VRD) in 2022. Set to embark on a new season of competition, the young Canadian will see action in the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda as he begins his climb up the North American motorsports ladder.

“Nico will be a major threat in FR in 2022, just as he was last season on our F4 program,” explained VRD’s Dan Mitchell. “Rejoining our efforts, despite in a different car and class, provides consistency and that is one of the key elements to have drivers continue their advancement and gain confidence. Nico is fast and talented, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns a lot of heads in 2022.”

With two wins and seven trips to the podium last year, Christodoulou secured the fourth position in the overall series championship. Earning victories at Road America as well as the season finale at the Circuit of the Americas in front of a packed crowd of Formula One fans, Christodoulou also scored four straight podium results between events at the Brainerd International Raceway and VIR. Always a threat for race wins and based on his performance in 2021, the time is right for the King City, Ontario, Canada native to make the move to FR.

“To be back with VRD in 2022 is a great feeling,” added Christodoulou. “VRD is the most professional program in the paddock, and they always strive for success. We had a great run in 2021, and we will look to increase the performance and results this year. I am excited to make the move to FR and while I know that it is a bigger car with increased speeds and tougher competition, I am 100% up for the challenge.”

Nico Christodoulou, Velocity Racing Development, and the rest of the team drivers will continue to test and prepare for the start of a new season of competition. Stay tuned for more team announcements soon. With 2022 underway and VRD continuing to expand their series of competition and overall footprint, VRD is set for growth this season as they push to add to their results resume.
