Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Earns Wins and Podiums in F4 This Past Weekend

July 6, 2023  The checkered flag on Sunday saw the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda reach the halfway mark on the 2023 season as Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport continued to pile on race wins and podium results. Leaving the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with an increased lead in both the driver and team championship, the multi-car team will enjoy a few weeks off before heading to their next event at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

“It was another great weekend for us on the results sheets,” explained Teena Larsen. “On Sunday, we had a lot of green flag laps in both series. These were the best races that I have seen this year and proud of the series and competitors for the professionalism and race craft that was demonstrated. We came here with the goal of winning, extending the point lead, and continuing the success, and we accomplished all of that despite some nasty weather throughout the weekend.”

With rain moving in and out of the area on Friday, it was a challenging day that eventually caused series officials to scrap qualifying and grid drivers based on point standings for race one. Patrick Woods-Toth and Jesse Lacey sat first and second in the championship points chase and therefore occupied the front row for the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend while Titus Sherlock started in the fifth position. Deeper in the field, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport was also represented by Lewis Hodgson, Hannah Greenemeier, Alex Benavitz, and Jett Bowling as seven team competitors aimed forward when the first green flag of the weekend flew.

With an attempted start, and then a stoppage to allow drivers to change from slick to wet weather tires, the race was eventually underway in a shortened time block. Only able to complete nine laps, multiple of which were under yellow flag conditions, Hodgson kept the Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport podium streak alive finishing third. Current point leader and Canadian Patrick Woods-Toth put a pair of team drivers in the top-five with a fifth-place effort while Jesse Lacey crossed the line seventh as all three drivers earned valuable points toward the end-of-the-year title chase. With three drivers in the top-ten, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport took 33% of the top-15 positions as Titus Sherlock slotted into 12th while Alex Benavitz moved forward to 14th. In his first F4 event with Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport, Jett Bowling earned a P22 result while Hannah Greenemeier was out on the opening lap and will shift her focus to race two on the weekend.

With the weather clearing, as drivers returned to the track Sunday morning, it would be two more wheel-to-wheel races as championship battles began to shape up. Woods-Toth improved from his top-five finish on Saturday to stand on the third step of the podium Sunday as he continues to show championship form while Titus Sherlock earned a fifth-place result. Placing five drivers in the top-ten of the results sheet, Lewis Hodgson, Jesse Lacey, and Alex Benavitz all finished seventh, eighth, and tenth respectively. Hannah Greenemeier was able to complete the full race distance and finish 18th while Jett Bowling was involved in an incident on the opening lap.

Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport returned to the top step of the podium in the third and final race of the weekend as Canadian Patrick Woods-Toth had a spirited drive to take the checkered flag and extend his overall championship point lead. Lewis Hodgson put a pair of team drivers on the podium earning another impressive result in P3 while Titus Sherlock and Jesse Lacey both earned valuable championship points crossing the line seventh and ninth. Just outside the point and finishing 11th at the end of the day, Alex Benavitz had his best F4 weekend of the season while Hannah Greenemeier improved yet again in race three to finish 15th with Jett Bowling in 18th.

Next up for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport will be a trip to the New Jersey Motorsports Park July 28-30.
