October 13, 2023 – It was the penultimate event in the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda, and Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport came to race! With the FR Americas side of their effort earning multiple race wins, countless podiums, and both the Team and Drivers Championship, the F4 side of the program continued with consistent results that included podium finishes and strong drives forward as the six drivers earned more impressive results and helped Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport earn the Team Championship. With the VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) now behind them, only one event remains at the Circuit of the Americas in November.

“We had success at VIR in 2022 and continued that this past weekend,” explained Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport’s Teena Larsen. “We added more wins, podiums, and several top-ten finishes to our results resume and look to close out the season in Texas with a couple more championships in November.”

With qualifying setting the grid for the first wheel-to-wheel action, the fastest race laps from races one and two set the grid for races two and three.

It was current point leader Patrick Woods-Toth who led the Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport program in the first race action of the weekend as he managed to maintain his third-place qualifying effort to stand on the podium in third. Looking to earn the title, Woods-Toth has been a model of speed and consistency this season, a valuable driver who should be on any team's radar. Behind him, three other Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport drivers found their way to the top-ten with Titus Sherlock finishing sixth, just ahead of Hannah Greenemeier who had a spirited drive to cross the line in seventh for one of her best results of the season. Alex Benavitz improved from his P14 result in qualifying to finish tenth, while Jesse Lacey and Jett Bowling finished 12th and 21st respectively.

Woods-Toth led the team again in race two as a quartet of Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport drivers were once again in the top-ten. Woods-Toth climbed to the second step of the podium in race two to help with his championship point total as Sherlock, Benavitz, and Greenemeier finished sixth through eighth. Bowling had a big improvement in the second wheel-to-wheel action of the day, crossing the line in 13th, while Jesse Lacey was classified in 16th. However, following the race, a series of penalties affected the official results for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport drivers. Woods-Toth endured a penalty for causing a collision that dropped him down the running order as did others which put Sherlock as the best finisher for the team in fourth. Benavitz was classified in the fifth position as Greenemeier moved into P6. Bowling found his name 11th on the results while Woods-Toth fell to 15th, just ahead of Lacey in P16.

Returning to the track Sunday for the third and final race of the weekend and Round 15 on the championship, it was a Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport victory and double podium. Jesse Lacey was able to score the victory, his first career F4 win in the 14-lap race, as Woods-Toth crossed the line third and joined him on the podium. Titus Sherlock and Alex Benavitz put four team drivers in the top-six as they finished fifth and sixth, with Greenemeier ninth and Jett Bowling in the tenth position, earning his first F4 point and putting all six Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport drivers inside the top-ten.

Following the weekend and after the points were tabulated, it was confirmed that Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport had claimed the F4 United States Team Championship with three wheel-to-wheel races remaining.

“It’s great to go into the last weekend already confirmed as the Team Champion,” explained Garry Orton. “We will still focus on winning the drivers’ title but can breathe a little easier. Congrats to the entire team.” 

Gil Kaszuba added, “What a season we had as a team. We have been the class of the field, taking several race wins and dominating the podium. We will look to this again in 2024.”

Larsen continued. “We have another race weekend to try and finish a strong season, and we can’t wait for our home event in Texas.”

The next stop for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport will be a trip to Austin, Texas, where they will race at the same facility and layout as the Formula One World Championship over the November 2-5 weekend at the Circuit of the Americas.
