Titus Sherlock to Compete for F4 U.S. Title at Circuit of The Americas

CHARLOTTE (October 26, 2023) – The battle for the 2023 Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda (F4 U.S) title is down to just three competitors, with a trio of rookies vying for the top spot and a scholarship to compete in the 2024 Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda (FR Americas) season. Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F4) will go head-to-head with teammate Patrick Woods-Toth (No. 27 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F4) and Jay Howard Driver Development’s (JHDD) Michael Costello (No. 19 JHDD / CSU One Cure / Lucas Oil / LHP Ligier JS F4) to contend for the title next weekend at Circuit of The Americas (COTA).

A San Diego native, Sherlock grew up in the California karting scene and just started his transition to single-seater race cars two years ago. The 2021 Vice Champion of the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series with three wins and 14 podiums, Sherlock went on to race in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Winter Championship and USF Juniors in 2022. Now a resident of Prosper, Texas, he made the 230-mile trek south to COTA last November to join Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport for his F4 U.S. debut and to get a jump on his plans for 2023.

With two top-10 results under his belt from his debut weekend, Sherlock immediately claimed his place on the podium with a third-place finish in Round 1 at NOLA Motorsports Park. Despite a consistent run of top-10 finishes, it wasn’t until the second half of the season that Sherlock really emerged as a threat for the title.

Rolling into New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) fifth in the standings with a 78.5-point deficit, the 19-year-old kicked it into high gear. With his first-career win, a fourth place and runner-up finish, Sherlock left the weekend third in the standings and cut his gap down to just 66.5 points behind the leader.

As F4 U.S. entered the penultimate round at VIRginia International Raceway, 11 drivers remained in contention for the championship. Sherlock finished sixth, fourth and fifth in the weekend’s three races, and left the facility as just one of three drivers still mathematically eligible to take the title. He enters the final race weekend of the season tied for second with Costello, just 66.5 points behind Woods-Toth.

“Winning the championship would be a dream come true,” said Sherlock. “We’ve all worked very hard this season and it would be great to award the team with a trophy. We had a rough start to the season, but we’ve slowly climbed back up the standings to be tied with second. Winning after all the adversity we’ve been through this year would be amazing.”

Sherlock will resume his bid for the 2023 title when F4 U.S. returns to the track at COTA, November 2-4.
