Ryan Shehan Claims Share of FR Americas Series Lead

May 22, 2024  Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport driver Ryan Shehan has been a favorite for podium finishes at every FR Americas event so far this season. The Austin, Texas native added two more podiums to his results resume at Road America this past weekend, making it three podiums in just six races, one chalking up to a win. Early setbacks threatened to turn Shehan’s weekend upside down with a tough qualifying session, but the young driver was able to turn it around to claim two runner-up results and a share of the series lead.

Mechanical issues plagued Ryan’s qualifying session, but he powered through to claim a seventh place start for race one of the weekend. Despite continuing mechanical problems in the first race, Shehan was able to climb three spots, finishing just shy of a podium in fourth. Starting fifth for race two on Saturday afternoon, and with the engine revved and running, Shehan would claim another three spots to secure his first podium finish of the weekend, standing on the second step of the podium. Shehan’s fastest lap of race two placed him second for the start of the final race of the weekend on Sunday. He pushed his fellow Crosslink Kiwi teammate for the win but had to settle for second when the race finished under yellow.

“It was tough to start with an oil leak in both qualifying and race one,” explains Shehan. “But we had the speed in the car to climb a few spots, and we got it sorted for races two and three. This was the kind of weekend where you have to just keep pushing, scoring points, and taking advantage of every chance you get. I am especially proud of how the Crosslink Kiwi team worked through all the challenges and now I have a share of the series lead.”

Shehan and the rest of the Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport team will travel to the racing capital of the world, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, June 13th through the 16th for the Indy SpeedTour on the 2.529-mile, 15-turn Grand Prix Circuit for their third official outing of the season.
